Androidify

Androidify allows you to customize the Android logo whichever way you want by choosing its body shape, clothing and accessories

Google Inc. has launched a new app that allows you to customize “the Android” (Android's logo) the way you want and as many times as you want. The application is quite simple: it starts with the basic “naked” green Android. You can change its skin color, hairstyle, and beard, add accessories (such as glasses, headphones, cell phone...) or to dress it up from head to toe: suits, t-shirts, jeans, trainers, shoes, hats...). You can even change your Android’s body proportions. Once complete, you can share it by publishing it on Facebook, Picasa, Twitter and many other social networks. You can send it by SMS, e-mail, Whatsapp or even Bluetooth. You can even save it in your SD card and set it as a contact image or as wallpaper. There’s a whole bunch of sharing options to show your Androidify creations off to your friends.

Something that could be improved is the style of the clothes and accessories available: most of them are geeky. The development of a platform where users could upload their own designs (clothes, hairstyle, accessories etc.) would open up the customizing range beyond the geek world. There could even be promotional design, for instance. Another issue is the screentouch response to set the body proportions: it’s a bit weird and it doesn't work as smoothly as it should.

Androidify is one of the star apps by Google Inc., the official Android Market provider and maker of other indispensable Android apps such as Google Books, Google Earth, Gmail or Blogger.

Androidify is one of those applications you'll use only once. Once you've designed your avatar, the app will be forgotten about. Even so, it’s worth a try just to get your own customized avatar.

Androidify yourself by customizing the little green Android as yourself, your family, your friends, anyone! Stretch it , shrink it, add a hoody, style its hair, throw on some shades, or even give it a parrot and a pirate hat. Arrrgh!
